‘Drawing Diversity’ Artist-In-Residence Commission (2020-21)

‘Drawing Diversity’ Commissioned by The University of Reading Art Collection in partnership with Reading Museum

This project responds to the ‘Rubens to Sickert: The Study of Drawing’ exhibition (April- August 2021) to pose questions around diversity in drawing practices and to produce a new commission for the University of Reading Art Collection.

I will be working with community groups to explore stories that may be missing from a largely western canonical exhibition and education culture; this could include stories of disabled bodies, bodies of colour, bodies of different genders, drawing practices and education from non-western cultures. My work focuses on the relationship between drawing and performance, using the body as a drawing tool in telling and revealing these stories.
