‘THISABILITY’ - Drawing and rehabilitation (2010)

In 2007, I moved from being a project architect on hospital design to establishing an Art and Health practice using drawing for rehabilitation, eventually developing this into a concept and exhibition called ‘Thisability’ that was shown at Solihull Arts Complex (see poster below) and Shire Hall Gallery in 2010 respectively. The exhibition included a video work ‘Drawn and Quartered’ shown alongside drawings produced by participants with impaired mobility engaging in the artist’s workshops.

‘Drawn and Quartered’ shows a composition of objects drawn with feet and elbows respectively. Each drawing took around two hours to complete. Contrary to the silent video, whilst drawing I can hear Bollywood movies entertaining my mother in the background.
